Zoe and Kyle met online through a dating service, and they haven’t stopped talking since. Their first date was the perfect setup: a beach, some food, and a movie.
One Saturday, Kyle made Zoe breakfast and drove them down to Austinmer, where they stayed at a place overlooking the beach.
The couple pulled out some chairs and sat out on the grass to take in the view. Kyle went inside and returned with a handwritten letter and asked Zoe to read it out loud. Among other lovely things, the last sentence read, “So there’s really only one thing left to do…” and as she read it aloud, Kyle dropped to one knee and pulled out a ring.
“I legitimately squealed,” Zoe said, “and I think my knees buckled a little.”
When they drove home the next day, his family had put on a lunch to congratulate the couple.
“It was super sweet and perfect,” Zoe said.
The couple looked around for a while for the right wedding venue. Zoe has always loved the beach, and she thought the South Coast was the perfect escape from Sydney without being too far away. When they checked out The Lagoon, they knew they had found what they were looking for.
“It was perfect!” Zoe said. “We loved the glass wall that you could see the lagoon and the beach through. It just had a great comfortable vibe as well. Not too pompous, but matching the waters and the cruisey vibe I love about Wollongong.”
Zoe really wanted to have her Aboriginal culture play a role in their ceremony, and Kyle wanted to make sure that all their friends and family were there to celebrate with them.
The bride’s culture is such a strong part of who she is, and it meant the world to her that Uncle Dwayne and his children sang her down the aisle in their traditional language.
Zoe’s figure-hugging dress had a blush underlay with chunky ivory lace covered in delicate beading and flared out a little at the knee. The back consisted of an illusion back with tattoo lace.
The couple’s first dance was to “Grow Old with You” from the Wedding Singer which, Zoe says, “Basically just sums up Kyle and I.”
The reception brought on heartfelt speeches, great dance moves, and some delicious food. The entrees were Sun-dried Tomato Gnocchi and the BBQ Octopus. For mains, the Veal Prime Rib and Barramundi Nick were paired with Garden and Greek Salads. The Baileys Creme Brulee and Gelato desserts capped off the night perfectly.
“It was absolutely delicious!” Zoe said, “we basically fell in love with the meat and vegetarian options when we went for our tasting.”
“The best part about The Lagoon was the hospitality shown by the staff and how they were always there for us.” Kyle said, “plus, I married the girl of my dreams soo…”
Their cake was a beautiful naked two-tier delight decorated with roses and baby’s breath.
After the big day, the couple took off on a trip to the United States and the Bahamas.
“Kyle and I truly felt so loved the whole time,” Zoe said, “which just made it so special.”
